True Bayberry Candles

True Bayberry Candles, a traditional holiday candle since Colonial Times, made from the wax from the berry or the Bayberry Plant.  Natural color and scent.

These candles have been made since the Colonials discovered how to create these candles after skimming waxy residue left after boiling the bayberries.  Because the wax was so difficult to collect, these candles were given only on special occasions.

The traditional Bayberry Candle poem, which is written on the label of each Bayberry Taper pair reads

"A Bayberry candle, burned to the socket, puts luck in the home, food in the larder and gold in the pocket". 

Burn to the nub on either Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve to bring good luck for the coming year.
